Intermediate Transportation Engineer

Clifton is currently searching for an Intermediate Transportation Engineer to join our Saskatoon office. Our Transportation team is led by a senior professional engineer and consists of junior and intermediate engineers and technologists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and mentor Junior Engineer personnel;
  • Participate in the design of plans, estimates and details with the use of guidelines and engineering software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley Culvert Master and Synchro would be considered an asset);
  • Complete and review engineering reports, designs, drawings, specifications and tender documents; ensuring that client and approval agency requirements and standards are met;
  • Ensure there are appropriate project plans that incorporate schedules, costs & milestones for the various phases;
  • Manage quality assurance and quality control for construction on multiple projects;
  • Ensure that systems are in place to track project costs and schedules;
  • Maintain and adhere to project schedule for assigned projects;
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications;
  • Supervise the work of assistant project managers and, in some cases, technicians appointed to the project;
  • Produce statements of quantities and prepare budget assessments;
  • Review progressive estimates and construction reports for civil engineering projects to ensure accuracy;
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data;
  • Ongoing business development;
  • Maintain relationships with clients and ensure appropriate communications are in place related to project activities;

Position Qualifications and Experience 

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in civil engineering;
  • Five or more years of applicable experience in transportation-related field;
  • Experience in construction, field engineering or design, or a combination of all;
  • Experience with preparing correspondence and technical reports;
  • Experience working with Ministry of Highways and/or government agencies would be an asset;
  • Have good communication skills (written and oral);
  • Work collaboratively with our Regina, Calgary and Lloydminster offices; 
  • Be able to work well in fast-paced environment and under pressure;
  • Be proactive in finding solutions;
  • Be willing to work overtime hours upon request;

Senior Contaminated Sites Engineer/Geoscientist

Clifton is currently searching for a Senior Contaminated Sites Engineer/Geoscientist to join our Regina office. The work will include oversight of assessment, permitting, remediation and risk management projects, and support to other practice groups.  In addition to managing and mentoring staff within the Regina office, work will include collaboration with other offices to provide technical guidance and strategic planning.

The ideal candidates will have skills and experience in the following areas:

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Director of Environmental Services
  • Provide senior leadership and mentoring to junior and intermediate team members
  • Manage environmental issues for a portfolio of power, oil and gas, transportation, industrial, and government projects
  • Lead investigations, assessments, and remediation projects
  • Provide expertise in support of transportation, environmental, geotechnical and municipal teams• Refine and establish standards of practice for our local projects
  • Manage scope, schedule, budgets, resources and risk for high-profile and technical environmental projects
  • Lead business development and liaison for our environmental sector
  • Proposal development including scope and budget creation

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree, specializing in Environmental (Civil) Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Geoscience or a related discipline
  • Fifteen years of progressive industry experience
  • Registration (or eligibility) as a Professional Engineer or Geoscientist with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor younger staff
  • Ability to lead or support multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Formal leadership and project management training
